Awakening

It’s such a beautiful day in Tokyo as Alice walks home from school until she hears the sound... a thwap on the sidewalk by a ribbon. It’s Rin coming to terrorize her again! He offers her a piece of gum, but simply spits his chewed gum into her mouth, which makes her sick. Unfortunately for poor Alice she is asked to babysit for the little rascal the next day. She takes him to the zoo where they meet Jinpachi and Issei and she tries to get away as quickly as possible. Earlier, she had caught them in the middle of a rather strange conversation which she interpreted as them talking about being gay. Jinpachi quickly explains that they are not gay and that they share dreams, specifically of being scientists on the moon watching over Earth. When Rin and Alice are back at his apartment, he gets mad at her and drops a present she got him out the window. She slaps him and he falls off the terrace and into a tree.

At school people are talking behind her back until Jinpachi finally goes up to her and tries to make small talk, which causes her to cry. Meanwhile Rin wakes up, but with former memories and powers. Alice goes to the hospital to see him and he displays his physic powers by knowing exactly what Alice is doing as she runs to see him. Later as she is walking home, Rin convinces Alice to bend down and he gives Alice her very first kiss. She arrives home and her mother is very upset amd asks her why agreed to marry Rin. Alice faints and has a moon dream where she and Shion are on the moon together and she comments on how much she loves the Earth. When she wakes up asks about her engagement again but she says that she can’t marry Rin because she is engaged to Shion.

Meanwhile, Rin has started to stalk a boy by the name of Takashi whose father is in charge of renovations of the Tokyo Tower. He puts him in a rather... uncomfortable situation and tells him that he wants no less then the Tokyo Tower.

The Meeting

Alice is haunted by her dream and she starts drawing pictures of Shion and Mokuren. When she shows them to Jinpachi and Issei, Jinpachi realizes that they could find the other characters as well. A man by the name of Tamura is speaking to the father of Takashi, and he explains that the boy had been acting strange lately. Takashi is hysterical and begs his father for Tokyo Tower. Another person is having a moon dream and he speaks to Mokuren about the plants. When he, Haruhiko, wakes up his mother asks him if he one of his dreams and he replies that Mokuren was beautiful.

Tamura prepares dinner for Takashi and makes sure he eats it. Takashi is very rude to him the whole time and doesn't want to tell him about the situation. Instead of pressing him for information, Tamura he goes to Takashi’s hang out and talks to his friends. They explain that he got a note from strange guy, and when Tamura returns to his car there is a note for him from “S”. At the same time, the one of Takahi's friends gets a call from someone who tells him that two boys by the names of Jinpachi and Issei are to be beaten up. The next day Issei presents Jinpachi and Alice with an interesting idea—they can send out letters about their story to paranormal magazines in order to find the other 4 scientists. As the trio exit the school, they run into a large group of people who had gathered outside. Alice is concerned, but Jinpachi blows them off. Unfortunately, they are waiting for the two boys and they start a fight. Alice is pushed to the ground and Jinpachi uses his powers to protect her even though he doesn't remember doing so later. Rin had sent the boys to attack them to see if Jinpachi still had his powers of ESP.

Tamura gets a call from Haruhiko who invites him out but Tamura has work to do. At the store Rin is running poor Alice ragged and he runs into Haruhiko who was getting fitted for a uniform. Rin recognizes him as Shukaido but Alice thinks that he looks like Shion. He cries that he wished he was Alice’s age and she feels really bad for him. Issei gets a letter from Daisuke and Sakura (or rather Hiiragi and Shuseran) and they arrange to meet. They end up at Daisuke’s house and he explains how they met and some information about their past lives (for instance, their dreams are memories of past lives and not future ones as they had supposed). He explains how they had come to observe the Earth and got a disease and died, as well as the fact that their “Mother Planet” and all surrounding colonies had been destroyed.

Tamura was going to meet Haruhiko and Ayako but he checks on Takashi who wants him to go meet this Mr. S with him. Tamura won’t let him go at all and goes himself. Haruhiko is upset but Ayako explains that Tamura had once had a younger brother who killed himself so he was trying to make up for it with Takashi. He goes to the building where Takashi was to meet Mr. S not expecting anything like what he was about to experience…

Memories of the Moon

Tamura enters the building and finds a little boy (Rin) who he offers to help, but the child reveals that he is the one waiting for Takashi. Rin proceeds to beat Tamura with his ESP and, having broken his ribs, gives him the plans for his version of Tokyo Tower. Haru gets sick and teleports to Tamura and gets him to a hospital, but not before seeing Rin flying away. Haruhiko sees the plans and recognizes them from the moon people.

School has started again and Alice and Jinpachi are in different classes so she feels a little lonely. After school Rin reminds her that they don’t get to spend much time with each other and she should take him with her. He startles everybody by pretending to be Shukaido and fools them into believing it by revealing things Shukaido would remember.

Haru has a moon dream where he is Shukaido and everybody is getting sick. When only he, Shion, and Mokuren are alive, he gives Shion a vaccine and not Mokuren so Shion will have to live alone for a long time. He wakes up very upset. Alice doesn’t want to be a part of the group anymore because she doesn’t believe that she is Mokuren and she feels guilty that Rin got his memories back because she let him fall out of the window. Jinpachi and Essei talk about it and Essei thinks it’s for the best but Jinpachi is upset because that is the only time he can see Alice. Rin meets Haruhiko and takes him to a forest where the rain is pouring down and interrogates him. Rin reveals his plan to obtain the passwords and Haru gets angry. That night Tamura comes over and enters his room and sees Shukaido instead of Haru.

Tamura rushes into the room and Haru decides not to tell him anything and he teleports. Meanwhile Sakura and Issei are at a café talking. Sakura asks him if he is still in love with Gyokuran and yells at him for it. They go for a walk and he revels that he is glad they are both boys because they don’t have to deal with sticky male-female relationships. They see Haru standing on the water and they try to guess if he will jump (thinking he won’t) and are quite surprised when he does. Haru has a dream about his password and wakes up to Tamura standing over him crying.

Alice asks Rin if she is Mokuren and he says yes and explains that it is revealed in the way the Earth seems to love her. He asks her if she wants to see Shion and she gets very exited. He tells Haru that he will go and meet the others as Shion, rather than Shukaido.

Tamura consults a friend whose brother also has ESP. The ESPer, Mikuro, explains that Haru and Rin are both ESPers of an unusual power level. He also tells Tamura that he had a sycronis vision when he went into Haru’s room and that the image he saw was of a dead person with influence on Haru. He also casually mentions that Tamura's dead brother advises him to stay about from "S".

Haru writes a letter to Tamura, telling him the whole story. He then attends the meeting as Rin planned, but Issei and Sakura are shocked to see him, and the story of his attempted suicide surprises Rin, even though Haru claims he was sleep walking. After the meeting, Rin teleports him to the ocean where he holds him under the water as punishment. He gives Rin his keyword and asks if he really wants to destroy the moon base. Later he thinks about Mokuren/Alice and realizes that he must atone for all of his sins.

Haru tries to contact Tamura to tell him not to read the letter he had previously written. He decides to teleport there but it is hard on his heart. He talks to Takashi and convinces him to tear up the letter when it comes. Unfortunately Tamura catches him in the act and takes it from him so he was able to read it.

Rin gives Alice flowers from "Shion" claiming that he was sorry that he could not come see her. Alice tells Rin that she knows that Shion didn’t buy the flowers because they told her Rin bought them. Rin decides to free her from the engagement because he feels that it is that connection which is keeping her from remembering. They go to the park and she asks why and he explains that he/Shion wants her to awaken and he revels that he does love her (though she doesn’t quite get it).

Haruhiko and Jinpachi go out for coffee and he figures out that Haru is not Shion. Haru slaps Jinpachi and goes to the aquarium. He is thinking about Shion when Mikuro appears and talks to him. He gives Haru a book with a message about teleporting harming his heart and Haru assumes that he is with Rin/Shion. Rin shows up at Haru’s school and they go out for lunch where Haru revels that he did get word to Tamura and Rin finds out about Mikuro. Ring tells him that he will have to kill Tamura so Haru tries to get to him. Rin sets Tamura up by sending a "love letter" to Takashi. Tamura and Mikuro go to the temple and have a ESP fight with Rin. Rin is really powerful but so is Mikuro. Rin has the upper hand when Haruhiko appears, Rin gets blasted and ends up in the hospital.

Visions

Rin has a vision of his past. He was a little kid who was starving. He went into a house and reached for some food and some soldiers shot at him but he deflected the bullets and they die. He is taken to a orphanage. Little Shion has a debate with a nun who tries to convince him that he did the right thing but he is a very perceptive young boy and he wins. An older nun explains his powers to him and tells him about Sarches and Sarjalians.

Shion is taken in by a man named Lazlo who would be sort of like a father to him and would help him with his powers. Shion agrees and he goes to live with him and Kyaa, a giant cat. They become good friends and when Shion gets in trouble in school (for beating up a brat who deserved it) Lazlo give him a hug and a kiss. Unfortunately both Lazlo and Kyaa are killed and Shion is crushed. He runs back into the house where a vision of Lazlo and Kyaa leads him to a picture of Sarjalim and hears Alice’s voice (who was singing to Rin in the hospital). He then has a vision of his future life and suddenly it is Rin sitting in front of the picture and he understands what Mokuren said before she died.

Jinpachi tells Alice that the future is more important then the past, She realizes that she is Mokuren and that Haruhiko is Shukido and not Shion. The story finishes the Rin with reading a poem about him and Alice going to the beach and they live happily ever after.
