Mikuro

Mikuro is not directly connected to the business with the moon. He is a human with advance ESP, making him one of the few who can stand up to Rin. He gets involved when an old childhood friend of his brother’s (Tamura) needs some help on the topic of ESP. The three meet and Mikuro explains what he knows with the help of Tamura’s dead brother, who he can see sitting in the room.

He tries to warn Haruhiko not to use his powers, but Haru assumes that he is working for Rin and accidentally puts Tamura and Mikuro in danger. Rin has them meet him at a temple where he plans to kill them, but when Haru shows up, his strength combined with Mikuro’s overwhelms Rin and he is defeated.

Mikuro and Tamura try to reason with Rin, not only to protect Haru, but also to help Rin. He, of course, refuses their help and ends up getting one of Tamura’s old rivals involved in the situation. He shoots Tamura but Mikuro saves him, and the guy sort of fixates on him. Eventually the rival demands that Mikuro kiss his feet, which he does to help his new friends.

In the confrontation at Tokyo Tower, Rin defeats him and uses the tower to access the moon base. Of course it is of no use because the is already destroyed. Everyone survives and Rin, more or less, becomes friends with the others.

Mikuro and Rin have a lot in common. He too was sort of a lost child who wanted to find a family. Mikuro was rejected by his mother because of his powers when he was young and was adopted by a new family. He has strong feelings for his new mother and is devoted to her. He even looks a bit like Shion.
