Kobayashi Rin
Rin was an annoying little boy that was spoiled and bratty who loved tormenting his young neighbor. He was malicious in the manner of young boys, but no more than most. Perhaps he had a crush on Alice even than, and could only express his vague feelings by being naughty to her and thus gain her attention. Sometimes he is so mean that he makes Alice cry.

His life quickly changes when he falls from the terrace while tormenting Alice. He remembers his former life on the moon and his slightly mad and maniacle incarnation begins to take over. His old self has plans and uses Rin’s youth to manipulate people around him. His powers of ESP are matched only by the strength of his rage. Shion plans to use take over the moon base where he has created a powerful weapon, but will he use it or destroy it? That, in part, is up to Rin.

Shion comes from a painful past, and Rin must reconcile his history with that of his former self. Rin doesn’t want to hurt people, but Shion will do anything to achieve his vague goals and the result is an internal conflict. On the one hand, he is a little boy who loves Alice and Earth, and on the other hand he is an adult whose motives are driven by anger, vengeance, and madness. Alice sees the struggle within him and tries to help, even though Shion has her kidnapped in order to get her password.

Shion ends up with all the passwords and Tokyo Tower, but it is still unclear as to what he will do. Rin would destroy the moon base to prevent the damage it would do to Earth, but Shion would rather control it and have its power. Rin wins the battle and tries to destroy it, but in his madness Shion had made an error. He forgot that he didn’t turn the moon base into a weapon, but rather destroyed it by creating a looping recording of Mokuren’s song that made plants grow. Shion’s influence on Rin lessens and he is able to live a more or less normal life, although he is a lot more mature than most people his age.
