Shion Zaites
Shion is the dark and brooding type who is very alert to the darker characteristics of humanity. He often reflects on human weakness like ignorance and destructive tendencies. Although he really wants someone to love him, he is usually cold or even cruel towards other people. He is extremely intelligent and powerful which makes him good at everything he does, but his attitude towards others isolates him and he has no real friends. Gyokuran tries to befriend him but Shion is too suspicious of his motives and Gyokuran never tries to really understand him.

As a child Shion was abandoned and had to fight for his life. He used his powers to kill some soldiers that tried to shoot him, an act for which he felt a great deal of guilt. He found happiness with a foster family, but lost them when they died in a crash. He separated himself from people and never got close to anyone after that.

He isn’t a bad person, but his anger and hurt cause him to be cruel to others. He falls in love with Mokuren but has trouble admitting it to himself. Instead, he uses her to hurt Gyokuren, although he did it to hurt himself as well. When she dies, he spends nine years alone with his guilt and misery, and he returns to Earth more than a little insane.

He still loves Mokuren, but he uses and hurts her, as well as the others who had been reincarnated. He is cruel and almost evil in his manipulation, nearly killing several people. Instead of telling everyone that he is Shion, he tells them he is Shukaido and forces Haruhiko to be Shion. He has a goal and he won’t let anyone get in the way.

He remembers that during his time on the moon he made something which he believes is a weapon. When he awakens, he decides that he will get everyone’s password so he can control the moon base. His specific intent is unclear at first, but it seems that he wants to take over the weapon. Whatever else may be true, he wants to end war on his new planet so that no other children will have to grow up like him. When he finally contacts the moon base he finds that he didn’t make a weapon at all but rather, in a loving tribute, made a recording of Mokuren’s song which makes plants grow.
