Tamura

Tamura is one of the few normal characters in the whole story. He has no powers (except for an unusual ability to cook) and no former incarnations. Rather, he is caught up in the story because of Takashi (the young man he takes care of) who Rin assalts in order to get Tokyo Tower modified as he requires since the boy's father is in charge of a Tokyo Tower renivations project. Tamura is also friends with Haruhiko and, later, the other Moon Children. He puts his life at risk to help and protect his new friends, even though he is suddenly pushed into a world of aliens, ESP, and reincarnation. He copes with his situation as well as anyone could.

When he was young, he and his brother were orphans taken in by Takashi’s father. Although he didn’t mean to, he neglected his brother who eventually killed himself. To atone for his guilt, he takes care of Takashi in the way he didn’t take care of his brother. He also takes care of the other young people he meets, especially Haruhiko who needs a lot help due to a past sin.

When he was younger, he was a member of a gang. While this gives him more than a little street cred, it also creates a problem when a former rival is contacted by Rin and ends up shooting Tamura in the leg. While he does have a sorted past, he seems to be a very moral person who tries to do what is best. He forgives people quicker than most, even when they do him great personal harm. He even wants to help Rin, even after everything he does to hurt those Tamura loves most.

Tamura is my favorite PSME character. My friend got me a teddy I named Tamura-san because of its spiky black fur.
