Episode 115
Shadow of Silence! Hotaru's Dimming Tall Light.

In a mysterious room filled with stuffed toys, dark Hotaru sits on a throne. “I want to make this world mine quickly,” she says. “I want to make this world beautiful with my own hands.” The Professor tells her she must wait a little longer and she nods, but suddenly she gasps out and holds her head, clearly in pain. “Pure hearts… Give me pure hearts quickly.”

Then, as if were all a dream, Hotaru wakes up in her bed. She can sense that something is wrong. “What have I been doing?” she wonders. “It’s always like this after a bad seizure.”

Outside Hotaru’s house, Chibi Usa balances precariously on top of Luna-P as she tries to ring the door bell. She finally manages to reach it, but falls to the sidewalk with a crash. Kaori answers the door, tells her Hotaru is resting, and quickly closes the door. Chibi Usa is clearly disappointed and begins to slowly walk away. She turns for a moment to gaze wistfully at the house, and then runs away.

Back in the house, Hotaru heard the bell and asks Kaori who was at the door. Kaori replies, “That girl who is always here was here.” Upset, Hotaru demanded to know why Kaori sent Chibi Usa away without first asking her. She runs for the door, hoping to catch Chibi Usa before she gets too far, but Kaori stops her. “Don’t you think you are acting a little too selfishly?” Although Hotaru’s father indulges her, she of all people should know that her body cannot take a lot of stressful playing. Hotaru simply glares at her before running off to find her friend. Kaori clearly enjoys taunted the young girl and she smiles as she says, “Such a scary face.”

As Chibi Usa continues her walk home, she worries about Hotaru, concerned that she may not be well. Gasping for breath and clutching her chest in pain, Hotaru finally manages to catch up to Chibi Usa, but the run has clearly taken its toll on her. As she gasps for air, Chibi Usa asks if she is all right, but Hotaru responds, “I’m glad I finally found you.” She worries that Kaori was mean to Chibi Usa, but she collapses before Chibi Usa can answer. As Chibi Usa cries out in fright, Usagi and Ami happen to walk by, so they run over to help her. Chibi Usa begs Usagi to save Hotaru. Ami tells Chibi Usa to calm down and they take Hotaru to a nearby hospital where Ami’s mother works.

At the hospital, Hotaru rests on a bed, still passed out. Chibi Usa worries that she is to blame, since this would not have happened if she had stopped by to see Hotaru. Usagi insists that Chibi Usa is a dear friend to Hotaru, which is why she overexerted herself to see her. If she stays by her side, Hotaru will be relieved.

While the girls talk, Hotaru dreams of the past. When she was a small child, she found her goldfish tank smashed and her goldfish dead on the floor. She sobbed, asking who did this to her poor goldfish. Kaori rather coldly informed her that she was responsible for the mess and that she should clean it up right away. Hotaru insisted that she did not know anything about it.

Another time, she entered her classroom and found the students huddled around a young man in bandages. She cheerfully greeted her classmates, but only stared back at her coldly. She ran over to the young injured boy, but he pulled away from her in fright. One of the students said, “She’s the one who injured him. That is so mean to ask what’s wrong.” Hotaru ran away from the classroom shocked. She had no memory of ever hurting the young man. With her head in her father’s lap, she cried. “Apparently I hurt another friend again, but I really don’t remember any of it.” Her father stroked her hair, comforting her. “You’re not the bad one,” he told her. “You’re not bad at all.” “I’m not able to make any friends at all. There’s a different person hiding inside of me… The part of me that hurts the people I care about.”

Hotaru rolls over in her sleep and Chibi Usa takes her hand, clearly concerned even though Ami has insisted that Hotaru will be fine. Hotaru wakes up, happy to see Chibi Usa but concerned about her dream. Although Chibi Usa tells her not to get up, Hotaru insists that she is fine. She apologizes to the other girls for any trouble she caused, saying that it was just one of her regular seizures. When Ami tells her to wait so her mother, the doctor, could examine her, Hotaru insists that she has to leave since her family will not allow any other doctors to examine her. She thanks everyone and starts to leave, but Chibi Usa decides to walk her home. As the girls begin to walk away, Usagi invites Hotaru over to their house sometime for their delicious pancakes.

Outside in her car, Haruka notices the girls so she pulls over and offers them a ride. Although she speaks kindly to Hotaru, she is clearly suspicious of the young girl. Chibi Usa shyly asks Hotaru is she is a nuisance, and Hotaru smiles, telling Chibi Usa she was glad when came to visit her. Suddenly, Haruka senses that something is wrong, so she pulls the car over, offering to get the girls a drink. Chibi Usa figures out that there must senshi business at hand and tells Hotaru to stay in the car.

Mimete has found a target she likes (a young television actor) and brought him to a park for the purpose of stealing his pure heart crystal. Sailoruranus, Sailorchibimoon, Sailormoon, and guardians fight off Mimete’s daimon until, in frustration she runs off in the direction of Haruka’s car and Hotaru. While the fighting was going on, Hotaru had another seizure. She held her chest in pain as she tried to get out of the car. When the daimon began to approach, she was in too much pain to get out of the way. Suddenly, a red aura began to glow around her and she somehow held the daimon away in the air with her power. Then, just as suddenly as it had appeared, the aura vanished and Hotaru passed out. With the daimon now incapacitated, Usagi used the Holy Cup to transform into Super Sailormoon and destroyed the daimon.

Chibi Usa (who has transformed back from her Sailor form) holds Hotaru, urging her to hold herself together. She wakes up and says, “You shouldn’t see me anymore. At this rate, I am sure that I will hurt you, Chibi Usa.” Crying that she is sorry, she runs away. Sailoruranus warns them that Chibi Usa really should stay away from that girl, but after she drives away, the others encourage Chibi Usa to remain friends with Hotaru. Sailormoon says, “What’s most important is the honest feeling that you want to be friends with her.” No matter what, they will stand behind Chibi Usa and her friendship with Hotaru.
