Episode 118
Battle with an Evil Atmosphere! Sailor Soldier's Gamble.

Hotaru and Chibi Usa play a game of Old Main up in Hotaru's bedroom. Chibi Usa holds the ace of hearts and the joker card--a grim reaper figure holding a scathe. Hotaru considers the cards carefully but chooses the joker "Old Maid" card. Chibi Usa finds Hotaru's ace and wins the game. As Hotaru holds the joker, she remarks that the ace of hearts always runs away from her. Chibi Usa watches her friend sadly for a moment, then reminds her that she is really good a Memory so they will play that next. Hotaru smiles.

Downstairs, Mimete tries to create a daimon with a bunch of stuff, but the machine blows up, sending the house to a weird dimension. Once Hotaru and Chibi Usa realize that something is not right, Chibi Usa uses her Luna-P to alert the other Senshi. When a lion pops out of the desk, the two girls flee the room and find themselves in a dark desert. Hotaru collapses to the ground, but Chibi Usa encourages her, telling her help is on the way. Outside, the Professor comes home and finds that he cannot enter the house. When the Senshi appear, he worries that they have figured out his identity, but his worries prove to be false. In a hot, steamy jungle, Hotaru complains that it is too hot and the scene changes to a snow storm. After a bit of bickering, the Senshi outside agree to use Sailor Teleport to get inside. Hotaru (and the being she bears inside) is too important to lose at this point for the Professor, so he decides to trust the girls for the time being. Outside the house gate, Haruka, Michiru, and Setsuna discuss the situation. Although she doesn't like it, Haruka declares that it might be best if none of them return, because at least Hotaru would be neutralized as a threat.

During one scene change, the girls found themselves on a cliff and the ground under Chibi Usa disappeared and she began to fall. Hotaru caught her but was not strong enough to pull her up. Chibi Usa told her to let her go, but Hotaru held fast and she too began to fall. Luckily, the other Senshi found them in time and Venus used her chain to pull them both to safety. As Hotaru wakes up, she overhears the Senshi discussing their current situation. They cannot teleport back out with Chibi Usa and Hotaru. Hotaru asks, "Can you save one of us, at least? If that is the case, please save Chibi Usa! I'll stay here! Please don't mind me. I'm someone who should have never been born anyway..." The Senshi, however, insist that they will find a way for everyone to escape. She agrees to trust them.

Soon the scene changes again and the house returns. Ami leads them to the door which has the highest probability of being the exit. Although Usagi feels nervous about it, she opens the door and discovers a strange looking Daimon. The creature claims to be hate fighting, but offers them a bet. If they can beat her in any game of their choosing, she will let them go back to the real world. The Senshi agree, but are not prepared for her methods of cheating. After all the Senshi lose and are sealed away in glass playing cards, Hotaru and Chibi Usa are left to challenge her. The game Chibi Usa chooses is Old Maid. Chibi Usa tricks the Daimon into taking the joker by smiling when she got near a safe card and frowning when she got near the joker. She tries the trick on Hotaru, but Hotaru's honesty saves her and she takes the safe card. The Daimon is forced to take Chibi Usa's last card so she wins. The Daimon tries to hold off her defeat by insisting that Hotaru must also win. Her last cards are the ace of hearts and the joker. Instead of holding them in her hand, she lays them down flat and claims not to know which is which, however, she secretly marked the joker so she could trick Hotaru into picking the wrong card. The trick almost works until the Senshi tell her not to listen to the Daimon and to pick the card she wants. Chibi Usa encourages her to thing of the game as memory, the game at which she is good. Hotaru picks the ace and wins, but passes out. The daimon now claims she never made a bet and refuses to send them back, so Chibi Usa transforms and tries to attack her, but her attack isn't strong enough. Fortunately, she manages to free Sailormoon who uses the chalice to defeat the daimon and return everything back to normal.

They gave Hotaru to her father and he thanked them but he secretly thought, "Someday, you'll regret that you ever saved her." In their small group outside the gate, the other women continue to observe the house. "It was too bad, Haruka," Setsuna jokes. Michiru replies, "Setsuna, Haruka believes in Sailormoon more than either of us." Haruka denies it, but smiles. Back at the house Chibi Usa thinks, "We really are the ultimate duo, Hotaru!"
