A kind smile disguises his cold, bloodstained soul. What can a person say about Seishirou? He says he never felt anything for Subaru, and that he can't distinguish between him and an object, but is that completely true?
Seishirou is a Sakurazukamori, an assassin and guardian of a thing called the Sakura Barrow. He kills without mercy or malice and feed the souls his victims to the entity that he guards. To him, murder is not a pleasure, but simply a task he must do like washing dishes or doing laundry. These assassins are taught to feel nothing from a very young age, which makes them perfect killing machines. Yet (and I know this isn't a common opinion, but oh well) I do think Seishirou enjoys the hunt, at least in a twisted sort of way. I mean, if one can suggest that he did feel for Subaru, why would it be so strange to suggest that he could enjoy hunting too?
Subaru wasn't supposed to live. Seishirou had a duty to kill anyone who witnessed a murder but something about the beautiful little boy lead him to make a bet. He would spend a year with Subaru and if he could feel something for him, he would spare his life. If not, Subaru would die.
Seishirou assumed the guise of a kind man, one who smiled, joked around, and flirted endlessly with his future victim. Always smiling, nothing in his manner suggested the sinister truth, but there was his name, his powers. Could a Sakurazukamori escape his fate as a killer? Perhaps he could have if he would have loved Subaru. If he did love him at all, he didn't acccept those feelings and would rather kill Subaru than crack his steel armor.
He would have, but Hokuto chose to die in Subaru's place and perform her curse. He had a chance to survive, but how could he let his prey escape, the prey he had worked so hard to hunt? Or perhaps he wanted to be killed by the person he loved, like his mother told him he would. He fought and died in Subaru's arms. Still, he continues to haunt the once pure 13th Head of the Sumeragi clan.
